TRARC Activities for June 2025
As we progress forward out of cold May and into hopefully warmer June, the Club has the following activities planned for June.
Monday or Wednesday, June 9th or 11th will be our next Club board meeting at 7pm via Zoom. Jim Bricker N3JHB will issue an email to the board members concerning the agenda and the Zoom log-in.
Tuesday, June 10th will be our next VE session at the McKeesport High School at 6:30 pm. Please contact Mike Kowalcheck, KV3L for more information.
Thursday, June 12th will be our operations night beginning at 7pm at the Lincoln Borough VFD 184 Social Hall, 4312 Liberty Way, Elizabeth 15037. We use the Club call W3OC which allows Technician and General Class operators to operate on all bands (Extra Class operators will be there to assist). If you or someone you know wants to learn more about operations, please come out and we will help.
We will also be building Fox and Hound antennas. If you need an antenna for the Fox and Hound hunt, please stop by and we will help you build one.
Saturday, June 14th is the Club’s Hams and Eggs Breakfast. It will be held at the Butlers Golf Course Rock Run Inn, 800 Rock Run Road, Elizabeth 15037 starting at 9:30 am. Please join us for a great breakfast and great company.
Saturday, June 14th will be the Fox and Hound hunt:
Date: Saturday June 14th noon to 2pm.
Meet at the parking lot above Harmony House Grove before noon. Please see the map on the Club’s website or FACEBOOK.
The transmitter (Fox) will be operating on 2m and the frequency and mode will be provided before the hunt.
A beam antenna will be provided if you do not have one on a first come first serve basis.
We will be searching in the Boy Scout camping area across the road from the parking lot.
The person who finds the Fox first and returns it to the coordinator wins a Baofeng radio or a cash equivalent.
A flyer will be posted on the Club’s website and FACEBOOK on June 1 in the evening.
Tuesday, June 17st will be our next Club meeting at 7pm at the Blaine Hill VFD Main Hall, 409 Oxford Ave, Elizabeth, PA 15037. Discussions will include plans for Summer Field Day, the results of the Fox and Hound hunt, and other interesting topics.
