TRARC Activities for August 2024
Members,
I hope everyone has enjoyed the heat of July. As we progress forward into August and dream about the coming Fall and its cooler weather, the Club has the following activities planned for August.
Strip Tickets – Del Peterson has strip tickets for sale. They are the 5 number tickets that go off on Monday, October 14th. The tickets are $5 each and the winner gets $600. The winning number will be drawn on the 7pm PA Lottery 3-digit number with no wild card. Please let Del know if you like to purchase tickets.
Thursday, August 8th will be our operating night beginning at 7pm at the Lincoln Borough VFD Station 184, 4312 Liberty Way, Elizabeth 15037. We will be using the vertical antenna that we have used at previous ops nights. The multiplexer will allow us to operate up to 4 radios simultaneously on 40, 20, 15, and 10m. We use the Club call W3OC which allows Technician Class operators to operate on all bands (Extra Class operators will be there to assist). Please come out and have a great operating session. Jim Bricker N3JHB will give a talk on ALC and operating modes.
Saturday, August 10th will be the Club’s Hams and Eggs Breakfast. It will be held at the Butlers Golf Course, Rock Run Inn, 1800 Rock Run Rd, Elizabeth, PA 15037. Breakfast will start at 9:30am. THIS IS A NEW TIME! This is also the same day as the Uniontown hamfest.
Wednesday, August 14th will be our next Club board meeting at 7pm at the Blaine Hill VFD Main Hall, 409 Oxford Ave, Elizabeth, PA 15037. Jim Bricker N3JHB will issue an email to the board members concerning the agenda.
Saturday, August 17th will be the Club Picnic at White Oak Park, Chestnut Pavilion. This is at the corner of Rt48 and McClintock Rd. The picnic starts about 1 pm with dinner a little later. This year’s menu is still being finalized but it is usually hamburgers and hotdogs and possibly Philly cheese steaks. The Club will provide the pop and water and you may bring your own beer. If you would like to bring a side dish please let Mike Telling (mtelling.4@gmail.com) or Bob Guthrie (moderngolfer@comcast.net) know. More details on the picnic will be provided in a future email.
Tuesday, August 20th will be our next Club meeting at 7pm at the Blaine Hill VFD Main Hall, 409 Oxford Ave, Elizabeth, PA 15037. The big topic may be the aftermath of the August picnic.
