TRARC Activities for October 2024

Members,

The summer heat is finally gone and the rain has returned somewhat. As we progress forward into October and watch our lawns get green again, the Club has the following activities planned for October.

Dues are due!! Dues are only $24 a year. If you haven’t paid yet, please see Mike Kowalcheck at the meeting or mail a check to TRARC PO Box 225, Greenock, PA 15047. The Club says Thank you.

Strip Tickets – All the strip tickets are sold. The winner gets $600. The winning number will be drawn Monday, October 14th based on the 7pm PA Lottery 3-digit number with no wild card. So, check those tickets.

Tuesday, October 8th will be our next Club board meeting at 7pm at the Blaine Hill VFD Main Hall, 409 Oxford Ave, Elizabeth, PA 15037. Jim Bricker N3JHB will issue an email to the board members concerning the agenda.

Thursday, October 10th will be our operating night beginning at 7pm at the Lincoln Borough VFD Social Hall 184, 4312 Liberty Way, Elizabeth 15037. We will be using the vertical antenna that we have used at previous ops nights. The multiplexer will allow us to operate up to 4 radios simultaneously on 40, 20, 15, and 10m. We use the Club call W3OC which allows Technician Class operators to operate on all bands (Extra Class operators will be there to assist). Please come out and have a great operating session.

Saturday, October 12th will be the Club’s Hams and Eggs Breakfast. It will be held at the Butlers Golf Course, Rock Run Inn, 1800 Rock Run Rd, Elizabeth, PA 15037. Breakfast will start at 9:30am. THIS IS A NEW TIME!

Saturday and Sunday, October 12th and 13th is the PA QSO Party. The Club will be operating as W3OC for those who like to participate on behalf of the Club. The Club has reserved the Lincoln VFD Social Hall for the weekend. However, we need to know in advance if we will have enough operators for the event to warrant renting the hall. We need 4 to 5 operators minimum. Please let Chuck Gessner W3ON or Jim Bricker N3JHB know by Wednesday, Oct 9th if you plan to operate as W3OC at the social hall. Chuck and I will provide further information.

Tuesday, October 15th will be our next Club meeting at 7pm at the Blaine Hill VFD Main Hall, 409 Oxford Ave, Elizabeth, PA 15037. Discussions will include Hamfest preparations, December’s Christmas party, and the PA QSO Party operations.

Fall Projects: Last month on the 10m Gabnet we discussed projects we would like to get done before the snow flies. We came up with a good size list. I’m thinking of organizing project parties to help others get their projects done. So, if you have a project and would like help, please let me know and I will organize a project party to help get it done.

Upcoming Hamfests:
None within a 50 mile radius of my house.
