TRARC Activities for June 2024
Members,
I hope everyone has enjoyed all the May flowers. As we progress forward into June and dream of Field Day operations, the Club has the following activities planned for June.
Strip Tickets – I have strip tickets for sale. They are the 5 number tickets that go off on Monday, July 15th. The tickets are $5 each and the winner gets $600. The winning number will be drawn on the 7pm PA Lottery 3-digit number with no wild card. Please let me know if you like to purchase tickets.
Saturday, June 1st will be a WORK PARTY. We have purchased and erected a small storage at the repeater site (Lincoln VFD Station 184). We plan to put the picnic items and other non-communication items from the trailer into the shed. We will start at noon.
Saturday, June 8th will be the Club’s Hams and Eggs Breakfast. It will be held at the Butlers Golf Course, Rock Run Inn, 1800 Rock Run Rd, Elizabeth, PA 15037. Breakfast will start at 9:30am. THIS IS A NEW TIME!
Monday, June 10th will be our next Club board meeting at 7pm at the Blaine Hill VFD Main Hall, 409 Oxford Ave, Elizabeth, PA 15037. Jim Bricker N3JHB will issue an email to the board members concerning the agenda.
Tuesday, June 11th will be our next VE session at the McKeesport High School at 6:30 pm. Please contact Mike Kowalcheck, KV3L for more information.
Thursday, June 13th will be our operating night beginning at 7pm at the Lincoln Borough VFD Station 184, 4312 Liberty Way, Elizabeth 15037. We will be using the vertical antenna that we have used at previous ops nights. The multiplexer will allow us to operate up to 4 radios simultaneously on 40, 20, 15, and 10m. We use the Club call W3OC which allows Technician Class operators to operate on all bands (Extra Class operators will be there to assist). Please come out and have a great operating session. We will be teaching Field Day operations for those who have not done it in the past.
Tuesday, June 18th will be our next Club meeting at 7pm at the Blaine Hill VFD Main Hall, 409 Oxford Ave, Elizabeth, PA 15037. The big topic will be Field Day plans.
Saturday, June 22nd to Sunday June 23rd is FIELD DAY! We will need people to help setup Friday evening and Saturday morning, operators for the 4 radios we plan to run, and people for teardown on Sunday afternoon. More information will be provided in follow-up emails . Please come to the Club meeting to let everyone know what you can do help with Field Day.
