TRARC Activities for September 2024
Members,
I hope everyone is still enjoying the heat of Summer (I’m not). As we progress forward into September and dream about cooler weather, the Club has the following activities planned for September.
Strip Tickets – I have strip tickets for sale. They are the 5 number tickets that go off on Monday, October 14th. The tickets are $5 each and the winner gets $600. The winning number will be drawn on the 7pm PA Lottery 3-digit number with no wild card. Please let me know if you like to purchase tickets.
Monday or Wednesday, September 9th or 11th will be our next Club board meeting at 7pm at the Blaine Hill VFD Main Hall, 409 Oxford Ave, Elizabeth, PA 15037. Jim Bricker N3JHB will issue an email to the board members concerning the agenda.
Tuesday, September 10th will be our next VE session at the McKeesport High School at 6:30 pm. Please contact Mike Kowalcheck, KV3L for more information.
Thursday, September 12th will be our operating night beginning at 7pm at the Lincoln Borough VFD Station 184, 4312 Liberty Way, Elizabeth 15037. We will be using the vertical antenna that we have used at previous ops nights. The multiplexer will allow us to operate up to 4 radios simultaneously on 40, 20, 15, and 10m. We use the Club call W3OC which allows Technician Class operators to operate on all bands (Extra Class operators will be there to assist). Please come out and have a great operating session. Joe DuCarme KC2YKT will be demonstrating the use of a NANOVNA to measure the performance of a balun he wound.
Saturday, September 14th will be the Club’s Hams and Eggs Breakfast. It will be held at the Butlers Golf Course, Rock Run Inn, 1800 Rock Run Rd, Elizabeth, PA 15037. Breakfast will start at 9:30am. THIS IS A NEW TIME!
Tuesday, September 17th will be our next Club meeting at 7pm at the Blaine Hill VFD Main Hall, 409 Oxford Ave, Elizabeth, PA 15037. IT IS CLUB OFFICER ELECTION NIGHT!!!! This is a very important meeting to attend in-person or on-line via ZOOM. The ZOOM log-in information will be provided in a later email. If you are interested in becoming an officer, please attend the meeting or ZOOM and throw your hat into the ring. This year I know we will need a new Hamfest Chairman. John Moskala K3CRO requested that a new chairman be elected so that he can concentrate fully on other duties. Del Peterson W3DTP, myself, and John will be on the Hamfest committee and help as much as possible. So, please, if you are interested in taking on this important position, please let us know.
Fall Projects: Last night on the 10m Gabnet we discussed projects we would like to get done before the snow flies. We came up with a good size list. I am thinking of organizing project parties to help others get their projects done. So, if you have a project and would like help, please let me know and I will organize a project party to help get it done. If you would like to help on these projects, please let me know and I will put you on top of the list.
